The main trading screen

What to read first and what not to be distracted by.

Learn to take three key parameters off the screen before thinking about direction.

The three numbers you read firstBinoDex
The three numbers you read first. Instrument and payout

Once the interface is familiar, a new problem appears: there is too much on the screen. So the rule of three parameters applies — before any analysis you take three numbers off it.

  1. 01The instrument and its current payout
  2. 02The timeframe of the chart you are looking at
  3. 03The time left until the current candle closes

The first decides what a mistake will cost and how precise you need to be. The second, what scale you are analysing. The third saves you from the classic beginner error: deciding on a candle that has not closed and can still change beyond recognition.

Everything else on the screen is secondary. Animations, news at the side, other people's trades in a feed, indicators you did not add deliberately — all of it scatters your attention.

If there is an element on the chart whose purpose you cannot explain, take it off. Every extra object on screen creates a reason to enter.

The usual mistake

Analysing the current candle as if it were finished. With 40 seconds to go it can turn from a strong green one into a weak one with a long wick.

Key takeaways

  • Three parameters come off before analysis: payout, timeframe, time to the candle close.
  • A decision made on an unclosed candle is a source of false conclusions.
  • Extra elements on the chart create reasons to enter.

A note from Leon Mercer Academy

Take off everything you did not add deliberately. A clean screen is not an aesthetic choice, it is less noise in the decision.

A practical example

Take EUR/USD on M1 and read the three parameters out loud: “payout is this, timeframe is M1, this much is left until the candle closes.”

Repeat the exercise five times on different instruments. Within days it becomes automatic before any decision.
